Objective 2:

Understand how to identify and support what matters most in a school

  • Identifying your core purpose – child safety and learning
  • Coaching increases teacher effectiveness
  • If you want to make instructional improvements—want any teacher growth—you have to coach with video

Objective 3:

Learn from Dr. Goree as she responds to some of the most common concerns around using coaching with video for professional learning

  • Concerns from schools and instructional coaches:
    • Schools that do not have coaches
    • Schools that have coaches who are not being used to “coach”
    • Schools that have coaches without expertise/plan & process/calibration/common philosophy…and no plan to “grow” them
  • Concerns from school leaders who reject using video because it “takes too much time” to implement and support—they would rather choose “quality Vs. quantity”—they don’t think they can (or need to) coach everyone
  • Concerns from Schools that don’t use video to coach because teachers don’t want it
  • Concerns from School leaders who see video as “one more thing to do” in addition to all of the other initiatives that they are supporting
  • Schools that start using video—but don’t sustain their use of it

Objective 4:

Review the last two years of data generated at Dr. Goree’s school

  • 2015-2016
  • 2016-2017
